Dorothea Buxton-Hyde creates studies of wildlife in
addition to various other subject matter and in a variety of mediums.
She began painting on porcelain and was recently commissioned to produce
artwork for China ware depicting birds, butterflies, and endangered
species. Several of her paintings have been successful as limited
editions, primarily wildlife and exotic animals, throughout Europe,
Scandinavia, and other areas. Alert to new opportunities, she would like
to increase her exhibition schedule.
Successful exhibitions at the Fine Art Guild Gallery in 1983 and the
Galleries Ofstatt, Gipstaoberfrick in Switzerland in 1994, proved very
rewarding. Exhibitions throughout the United Kingdom always stimulate
interest from both collectors of her work and the general public.
Landscapes, wildlife flora and fauna, and now figurative work form the
basis of Dorothea's collection. in 1989, Dorothea was introduced to
Princess Michael of Kent, when her work was part of an exhibition that
was held at the drapers hall in London. Mrs.Buxton-Hyde was a finalist
for the Artist of the year award of The Fine Art Trade Guild Business
Award Scheme in 1993. Dorothea was born in Sneyd Green Stoke on Trent
Staffordshire, September 1942, Educated at Milton Secondary Modern
(1958). Married to Phillip in 1976. Three children: Lucy, Jeffery and
Keith. Dorothea enjoys making stained glass windows in lead or copper
foil style, walking, and spending time with her family. Listening to
music and visits to the ballet are also favourite pastimes.
